I WAS most interested in Brendan Gallagher‘s article last week on French rugby and spending 16 years in the wilderness.
In particular, the last Championship match with England on Easter Monday 1931.
I have a number of old rugby magazines from that period and three of them contained four-page inserts which involved the France vs England game.
I swear they had not seen the light of day.
British American Tours were offering four days in Paris including return tickets to London, a good hotel, and an excellent reserved seat at the match along with transport to and from the ground.
An application form was on the reverse of these inserts and stated no deposit required.
France vs England trip: Yours for only £5!
