BUMPER crowds supported a charity all-star cricket match between The Matt Gallagher Foundation and Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club last week.

The match was to raise funds to help people with motor neurone disease (MND).

2003 Rugby World Cup winner Neil Back, playing for the Gallagher Foundation, scored three runs from 10 balls.

Will Rigg, of Premiership side , scored a more impressive 13 from nine for Knowle & Dorridge.

The Gallagher Foundation won the toss and elected to bat, ending on 182 all out.

Knowle & Dorridge chased down the target with the loss of five wickets.

The Matt Gallagher Foundation was formed after former player Matt Gallagher was diagnosed with MND in October 2023.

Gallagher started out playing for Solihull Rugby Club and went on to start for in the Championship at the age of 20.

He then signed for in 1996 before playing more than 100 games for the team.

Gallagher finished his rugby career back at Birmingham and Solihull.

After retiring in 2003, he switched his focus to raising his three young children and building a new legacy in the housebuilding industry.
