TROPHY

will be looking to book their return to the U20s World on Wednesday when they contest the Trophy against the USA at Hive Stadium in Edinburgh.

Kenny Murray's side came up short last year as they finished third with Spain beating in the final to secure to the top tier of U20s .

It's hugely important Scotland return to the top flight for the first time since being relegated in 2019.

Scotland have been the heavy hitters in this season's competition in Edinburgh, notching a 12315 victory over Samoa in the opening round before a 101-0 triumph against Hong Kong China last Sunday in which Jonny Morris and Freddy Douglas bagged braces, while Finlay Doyle touched down for a treble.

Friday's 46-10 victory over courtesy of tries once again by Douglas and Doyle as well as Jack Kocking, Andrew Mclean and a double from Geordie Gwynn, secured a clean sweep and they'll be full of confidence ahead of their crunch match against USA.

The USA confirmed their place in the final with a 30-17 victory over Kenya to top Pool B with four separate try scorers – Rand Santos, Luke Schaefer, Keelan and Max Threlkeld – getting over the line.

This followed two victories against the Netherlands 44-33 – with Keelan Farrell scoring four and Dylan Fortune and Graeme Pedegana joining him on the scoresheet – and Uruguay 33-15, with tries from Farrell and Corbin Smith and the kicking prowess of Oliver Cline and Benjamin Saunders.

The young Scots will be hoping to put a marker down to show they deserve to be at the top level of U20 rugby again and push themselves into contention for the senior side. For USA, progression into the World Championship would be a huge step forward ahead of them hosting the 2031 Rugby .
