SID Going, who died last Sunday aged 80, might have been a man of God but the diminutive scrum-half from Kawakawa was, pound for pound, as tough and spikey as any All Black in history.
Not known for the quality of his passing, although it was efficient enough, Going was explosive and dynamic around the base of the scrum – both in attack and defence – possessed a clever kicking game and was surprising dominant in the air for a man of 5ft 10in.
