THE Springboks held their team announcement on Thursday in what was basically a village hall, in Presles, about half an hour from Paris from Gard du Nord on the RER. The venue turns out to have hosted the first public appearance by legendary French crooner, Charles Aznavour, who duetted with Pierre Roche there in 1943. The Salle Jeanne de Arc, as the hall is known, has a plaque on it to commemorate that first performance which was unveiled by the great man himself and Roche in 2010.
