Borthwick’s radio silence

INCREDIBLY, England head coach Steve Borthwick did not do a sit-down interview with BBC Radio Five Live after announcing his team for yesterday’s opener with Argentina on Thursday. The Beeb are radio rights holders and the RFU were within tournament regulations but it was the first time for years any England boss has not chatted with them two days before a Test match.
■ The England team had to buy presents for each of the other 32 players in the squad which were handed out last Monday. Marcus Smith tapped into the golf craze by giving each team-mate an engraved wedge.
