BURLEY have started a player-led women’s side from scratch. Men’s first XV players Mark Docherty, Jamie Manson and Scott Glynn combined to launch the new team and, after expecting a handful of players at the first session, the trio were thrilled to have 12 enthusiastic women turn up last Tuesday at the Leedsbased club.
Despite none of the group having any rugby experience, Docherty says the session was a great opener.
He said: “It’s come out of the existing playing group and was something we all wanted to make happen, so we organised it ourselves.
