South Africa captain Siya Kolisi is set to feature in the World Cup warm-up match against Wales on August 19.
Leicester fly-half Handre Pollard is also close to a return for the world champions.
“We didn’t think they would make the Rugby Championship but after that in the warm-up games then hopefully,” head coach Jacques Nienaber said.
Flanker Kolisi, 32, who has won 75 caps, partially tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in April playing for URC side Sharks.
