Glasgow Warriors revealed today their biggest signing in the club’s history with the arrival of South African No.8 Josh Strauss on a three-year contract.
The 25-year-old joins from Super Rugby side MTN Lions following their eviction of the competition last month.
Strauss is renowned as one of the most dynamic and powerful back-rowers in the Super XV competition, where he has captained the Lions for the last two seasons.
Strauss, who is still subject to medical and visa clearance, said: “I’m really excited to have signed for Glasgow Warriors. I can’t wait to get on that plane and hit the ground running with my new club and team-mates.
“I’ve had a number of really positive conversations with [head coach] Gregor Townsend, where he’s explained how ambitious the club is to move forward on and off the field.”
Strauss comes in as a straight replacement for Tongan Viliami Ma’afu who departed the club with immediate effect today due to family and personal reasons.
