LOUGHBOROUGH Students shaded a hardfought contest at Newport (Salop).
The visitors dominated possession and territory in the first period.
Newport’s errors and technical infringements did nothing to help their cause as Loughborough turned their dominance into a 17-point half-time lead, with three tries, all by front-row forwards.
