New call for brain scans to be annual

Professional rugby players should be licensed like boxers and only retain their licence if they pass an annual brain scan, says one of the world’s foremost authorities in brain injuries.
Professor Willie Stewart, a neuropathologist at the University of Glasgow, published research this week indicating that former international rugby players had a twoand-a-half times higher risk of neurodegenerative disease than the wider population.
