DMP Durham Sharks will travel to Sale in the opening game of the season, as champions Saracens travel to Loughborough Lightning on the opening day of the new Premier 15s season.
DMP recently managed to secure funding to compete in next season’s competition after a shortfall of funding had threatened their future in the competition.
And a trip to the team that finished second from bottom last season will be a welcome start for a team who themselves finished last in 2021/22.
For champions Sarries, they will be facing the same team they played in their first home game of the season once again, as they visit a Loughborough team who will be looking to make a strong start after disappointing season.
It was the first time they had failed to finish in the top four since the very first season of the Premier 15s back in 2017/18, and their lowest finish ever.
Meanwhile on the opening round there is something of a Westcountry derby in the first round as last year’s losing finalists Exeter host Gloucester Hartpury, while the other team linked both with a men’s Premiership team and university, the newly-named University of Worcester Warriors, travel to semi-finalists Harlequins.
The last of the four semi-finalists to be mentioned, Bristol Bears, host Wasps, who themselves narrowly missed out on the play-offs as they finished fifth last term.
The season does not get underway for another three months, with the World Cup due to be played before the campaign gets back underway.
