RUGBY has good reason to join the mourning for former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who was assassinated in Japan earlier this week.
Abe was in the vanguard of the movement to open up Japan to the world and played a key role in Japan’s hosting of both RWC2019 and the delayed 2020 Olympics.
More than that he was a rock steady figure when nature did its worst and threw earthquakes and tsunami as Japan prepared for RWC2019 and then hurricanes during the event itself.
