CORNWALL chairman Dave Saunter is proud to have secured a trophy treble this season but fears the County Championship’s days could be numbered.
Cornwall’s men lifted the Bill Beaumont Cup at Twickenham, their U20s triumphed in the U20s Jason Leonard Cup and the women lifted the Gill Burns Division 3 trophy.
But Saunter is concerned that a lack of central funding could kill off the competition. He stresses that the County Championship remains an important pathway for future Premiership players and points to current former Cornwall players playing in the top flight.
