NEWPORT’S Ben Elliot scored 32 points in a fine individual performance, guiding Staffordshire to a 52-35 win over Warwickshire.
Elliot got his side off to the perfect start, capitalising on an error in the opening minute to score the game’s first try. His conversion, and a penalty just two minutes later, had Rupert Harden’s men flying.
Alex Nesbit then picked off a pass in his own 22 to race the length of the field to open up a 17-point lead for Staffordshire, but the visitors were competitive.
