ZACH Mercer will spark a massive scramble for his services when he returns to the Premiership from France at the end of next season.
The Leeds-born back row moved to Montpellier from Bath in 2021 having been dumped by England after winning his second cap.
Mercer, 24, is ineligible for England while he plays in the Top 14 but appears ready to see out his contract despite being linked with an early return.
The Premiership salary cap will remain at £5 million until 2024, so clubs could face a fight to match Mercer’s wage expectations.
