THERE is nothing that undermines a professional sport more than being unclear about its own laws. We saw a glaring example of this last weekend at Twickenham in the key area of the scrum, as England and Ireland locked horns.
It soon became apparent that a clear directive from World Rugby, which had been passed on to its elite international panel referees, had been ignored, or forgotten, by Mathieu Raynal.
