Jones: We weren’t allowed to compete

EDDIE Jones defended Charlie Ewels over his second-minute red card agony after England’s title dream was left in tatters on the Twickenham grass.
Instead, the head coach directed his wrath at French referee Mathieu Raynal for “failing to allow my pack to scrum fully” as Ireland crossed for two late scores to clinch a 32-15 victory.
Bath lock Ewels became only the second player to be sent off in the Championship – after just 82 seconds for a dangerous tackle on rival second row James Ryan.
