THE Exeter Chiefs, North American Indianstyle, are dead, but hail to the Dumnonii Chiefs!
Catchy it isn’t, but apparently it links with the pre-Roman history of Devon and Cornwall, and the Celtic Iron Age tribes of the region…who were ruled by chieftains.
We should forget that they were then overrun by the Saxons, who probably had chieftains of their own – the Dumnonii Defence League might not take kindly to that historical footnote!
