MAKAZOLE Mapimpi’s magic with ball in hand saw the Springbok flyer grab a hat-trick and prove the difference despite the Lions having the better pack.
The Lions had a 12-3 lead by the tenth minute after turnover tries by Andre Warner and Wandisile Simelane but Aphelele Fassi hit back for the Sharks before the first of Mapimpi’s three tries.
Fred Zeilinga kicked two penalties for the Lions but Kerron Van Vuuren’s try, and Mapimpi’s second try on the stroke of halftime, put the Sharks in clear water.
