THE chances of a new variation of Covid coming through was as predictable as France’s anti-British president, Monsieur Macron, shutting his country’s borders to UK visitors at the first opportunity.
In the process, Macron, who has been accused of having the autocratic tendencies of a ‘wannabe’ Napoleon ahead of the French elections in April, has pretty well scuppered an already devalued European Cup by forcing the cancellation of eight cross-Channel matches in the second round of the tournament.
