In the Super League for the overhyped, baseball’s World Series has long been out on its own, a flagrant American exercise in global shrinkage. Since its creation in 1903, the annual event has made only the lamest token attempt to acknowledge that a large part of the planet really does still exist outside the US by extending its modus operandi over the Canadian border to include Toronto. Big deal.
The few countries which support pro baseball of their own – Japan, South Korea, Cuba – remain on the outer. The pan-American World Series will continue...
