Dupont puts Frenchmen back on top

ANTOINE Dupont is the fifth from the Top 14 in the last seven years to be elected European Player of the Year but the first Frenchman. An exiled English trio, Jonny Wilkinson, Steffon Armitage (both Toulon) and Nick Abendanon (Clermont), won it in successive seasons from 2013-15.
Fijian lock Leone Nakawara took the title while at Racing three years ago. Dupont’s award is due recognition for his performances in restoring Toulouse to their perch as champions of France and Europe.
