THE Rugby Europe Championship will be expanded to eight teams, from the 2023 season.
The second-tier tournament, which sits beneath the Six Nations, currently runs at six teams but two more will be added once the Rugby World Cup 2023 cycle is over.
Previous attempts to expand the league were knocked back but the move was ratified this time around at the annual Rugby Europe Congress in Paris last week.
