THE RFU announced a revenue shortfall of £120m compared to previous forecasts in its annual report published on Wednesday as a result of the pandemic.
The union also revealed an underlying loss to reserves of £21.3m – around £30m worse than pre-pandemic forecasts – with revenues for the year at £97million, down £70m on the previous year’s £167m.
The union generates 85 per cent of its revenue from England men’s internationals at Twickenham but this year’s Six Nations championship was played in empty stadiums.
