MARCUS Smith had Warren Gatland singing his praises after the brilliant young England starlet threw his hat into the Test ring.
And the Lions boss admitted the fly-half, who arrived in South Africa only last weekend, is firmly in his selection mind for the opening clash with the Springboks after Smith inspired the team to a seven-try thrashing of Stormers.
Smith continued his dream spell by showing he is right at home in the Lions den, kicking a perfect 14 points in the 49-3 win and giving a skilful and energetic performance as the tourists bounced back from their South Africa A loss.
