HAVING seen his team’s alarming demolition by Sale, Scarlets’ owner Simon Muderack offered a ‘no excuses’ response and promptly proceeded to contradict himself, at some length.
The international players had returned from the Six Nations ‘pretty exhausted’. There were other handicaps. “They’re decompressing,’’ he said.
“It takes a run of games before you can build that cohesiveness. We had boys on the field who were making Welsh rather than Scarlets’ calls. They were getting confused.’’
None would have had a stronger case for pleading confusion than Exeter’s England contingent.
