Australia’s Drew Mitchell faces a new lengthy spell on the sidelines after the Waratahs winger ruptured a tendon in his right ankle.
He left the field limping in the the Wallabies‘ 22-0 defeat in Auckland on Saturday and scans have revealed the full nature of the injury.
The 28-year-old spent 18 months out of the game after suffering a broken leg in the early rounds of the 2011 Super Rugby and was just coming back to form.
Meanwhile, Dan Vickerman announces his retirement due to injury.
The veteran lock missed all the 2012 Super Rugby season with a stress fracture on his leg.
Vickerman played 63 tests for the Wallabies in a 10-year international career.
