PETER Winterbottom has added his name to a lengthening list of people demanding drastic cuts in the number of forward replacements in order to reduce the size of players and free-up vital space at the back end of games.
Britsh and Irish Lions legend Winterbottom, now coaching Esher, believes eight-man benches are counter-productive and has joined ex-Red Rose teammate and Rugby Paper columnist Jeremy Guscott in calling for a rethink over second-half replacements.
