DEVIN Toner was the shock omission from Ireland's squad for the World Cup.
The 33-year-old Leinster lock has made 60 appearances under head coach Joe Schmidt, more than any other player during the Kiwi's six-year tenure. Munster's South Africaborn Jean Kleyn has been given the nod.
Schmidt opted for Luke McGrath ahead of Kieran Marmion as Conor Murray's back-up at No.9, while Chris Farrell got the nod as a versatile back ahead of Ulster's former Sale Sharks back Will Addison.
