James O’Connor never had any trouble taking care of Wales, starting from his advent as a teenaged Wallaby. At 21, he had played against them four times and won the lot. He played anywhere and everywhere behind the scrum: full-back, wing, fly-half, inside or outside centre.
He scored tries and kicked goals, adding to the impression of a player so complete that someone in the Wallaby camp speculated about his becoming the first to play 200 Tests.
