FORMER Newcastle Falcons stalwart Phil Dowson insists the structure of English rugby needs changing, describing his old club’s relegation as “devastating” to the game in England.
Dowson, who spent eight years at the Falcons before joining Northampton in 2009, believes their demotion, allied to the rapid demise of Leeds, should prompt the game’s authorities to ensure a better geographical spread of topflight clubs.
