THE top two in One East clashed for a place in the final of WRU National Plate and it was Brecon who emerged on top 22-17.
Penallta, who trail Brecon by a point in the league having played a game more, had plenty of possession but lacked a cutting edge. Dean Gunter opened the scoring for Brecon with a three-pointer and went on to add a further four penalties and a conversion following Ewan Williams’ score.
Laurence Pritchard replied for the Pitmen, who saw Ross Edwards touch down twice, with a penalty and two conversions.
