Former Ulster star signs extension with Brive

Brive centre Stuart Olding will remain with the French second tier side beyond this season after signing a deal which will keep him at the club until 2020. 
Olding and fellow international Paddy Jackson had their contracts revoked by the IRFU and Ulster following a review conducted after the Belfast rape trial in which both players were acquitted in March.
Under the guidance of former Ulster, Ireland and Lions lock Jeremy Davidson, Olding has hit the ground running this season with impressive early performances and a player of the month award in August.
Belfast-born Olding, who has four caps for Ireland, expressed his gratitude for the welcome he has received from his new club as he rebuilds his rugby career.
“After three or four days spent in Brive, it already felt like home,” he said.
“There is a good group of friends, with very good players. I am quite impressed by the rugby here.
“I was also impressed by the fans, who know how to be heard. I received a really fantastic welcome and for all these reasons I want to stay in Brive for next year.”
President of the club Simon Gillham praised the centre for the positive impression he has made since arriving with the squad: “Stuart has won everyone over, both with his rugby and on a human level.”
Starting all league games so far this season he is set to be a key feature as his side target promotion from the PRO D2 into the French top flight.
Meanwhile Paddy Jackson’s Perpignan could be heading in the opposite direction as his side remain rooted to the bottom of the Top 14, as they await their first win of the season.
