TITANS' preparations for life in National One were disrupted this week after the club found themselves caught up in fixture wrangle.

The Titans and Rotherham Town Cricket Club were both scheduled to play home matches at Lane on Saturday, the ground they share as tenants of the Rotherham Athletic Company.

But yesterday's game against Old Elthamians only went ahead as planned after the club were forced to issue a reminder of the written agreement they signed with their cricketing neighbours back in December 2015, relating to set dates for which team has priority of the venue.

In a statement, the Titans said: “The staging of this fixture on Clifton Lane falls within the scope of the written agreement between Rotherham Town Cricket Club and Rotherham Titans signed on December 15, 2015.

“Clause 4 of that agreement clearly states, ‘the changeover dates remain but Rotherham Town Cricket Club acknowledges that Rotherham Titans need to use the ground at the start and end of the rugby playing season for league fixtures and play-off games and that Rotherham Town Cricket Club will accommodate this'.”

Prior to the written agreement, the Titans had to play their opening game of the 2015/16 season against Ealing on Herringthorpe Playing Fields, to the back of Clifton Lane, after a similar clash of dates.

The Titans explored the option of switching the game to . However, Old Elthamians' ground was not available.
