SPURS have invited Sam Warburton to be guest of honour at Wembley for their opening home match of the new Premier League season.
The Lions captain is to be feted at the home of English football on August 20 when last season’s runners-up meet the only team to have finished above them last May, champions Chelsea.
The gesture, in recognition of Warburton’s role at the head of the first Lions squad not to lose a series against the All Blacks for almost 50 years, is believed to be the first of its kind by a major football club to a rugby player.
