RFU plans to introduce wage caps into the lower leagues have been branded as “farcical” by Fylde board member Mike Brennand.
As revealed by The Rugby Paper last September, an RFU working party, headed by board member Malcolm Wharton, has recommended limiting gross player payments to £150,000 per club in National One, £100,000 in National Two and £50,000 in National Three, with a complete cessation of payments at Level 6 and below.
