British & Irish Lions prop Kyle Sinckler was arrested by Auckland authorities in the early hours of Sunday morning following an altercation.
A statement released by the City’s Fairfax precinct did not name Sinckler, who featured in all three Tests for the tourists, but confirmed: “A male was placed under arrest but was not charged after further inquiries established that the incident did not warrant prosecution.
“He was then taken to his accommodation by police,” it was confirmed, with the statement declaring the incident as ‘minor disorder’.
The Lions have responded by issuing a statement of their own in which Sinckler says, “I apologise for putting myself and the Lions in this position and also to the police and anyone else affected.”
The Harlequins tighthead provided Warren Gatland with impact off the bench to help the Lions achieve their second best result against New Zealand in 113 years of touring the three-time World Champions.
