As revealed by Neil Fissler in The Rugby Paper on May 29, Bristol have secured the signing of Tongan international Soane Tonga’uiha.
The 34 year-old joins from Oyonnax on a one-year deal following two seasons in the French Top 14.
Prior to his move across the Channel, the powerful loosehead, who has represented his country in two World Cups, enjoyed seven successful years with Northampton Saints.
He said: “I’m looking forward to playing in the Aviva Premiership again – it’s a hugely competitive league and brings out the best in players.
“Bristol Rugby is a good place to be – there’s a buzz around the place ahead of the new season and I’m excited to be involved.”
Director of rugby Andy Robinson added: “Soane has a wealth of experience and has proven himself to be a consistent performer at the highest level.
“He’ll provide excellent guidance for our young props and understands what is required to be successful in the Premiership. We look forward to welcoming him into the squad for pre-season.”
