Yorkshire Carnegie have added lock Jack Whetton to their squad ahead of next season.
The 24-year-old son of All Blacks legend Gary Whetton will move to Leeds on a two-year deal from Nevers who play in the French Federale 1, the equivalent of the English National League One.
He said, “I’m very excited to be joining Yorkshire Carnegie next season. It is a famous club, rich with history and culture which I can’t wait to be a part of.
“I am really excited about the challenge of being promoted and am willing to do everything possible to get there.”
Head Coach Bryan Redpath said, “I am delighted to get Jack on board as a lineout caller and someone who can play in the back row as well.
“His high work rate and ball carrying and aggressive nature are big assets to us going forward. I am looking forward to working with Jack for next two seasons.”
