Ian Costello named new Nottingham head coach

Nottingham have named Ian Costello as the club’s new head coach for next season.
The Irishman joins the Green and Whites from , where he has spent the last two seasons as assistant coach, with responsibility for defence and kicking.
“I’m delighted to be joining and from what I witnessed on Saturday, I think we have a fantastic opportunity next season,” he said.
“The club already has a really strong set-up, with a great team of people both on and off the field. I hope to be able to build on that, and working with the coaching and support team already in place, I’m sure we can continue to compete in what is a very tough .”
Director of Simon Beatham commented: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Ian has agreed to come and join us here at The Bay. His coaching experience and pedigree is highly thought of and we know we’ve picked the right man for the job.
“He came through what was a very tough selection and interview process, with a number of other excellent candidates up for the role. We feel Ian is a perfect fit for us, with our emphasis on nurturing young talent and putting players on that developmental pathway, as well as leading the next phase for Nottingham Rugby in the Championship.
“We’re very excited about what Ian can bring to this club and feel he can help us continue to grow and develop, both on and off the field. Everyone we’ve spoken to has told us what a fantastic individual and coach he is, and we can’t wait to start what we hope will be an exciting new era for Nottingham.”
Club chairman Alistair Bow added: “We are delighted that Ian has accepted our offer to join us as Nottingham’s next head coach. We had a number of exceptional candidates for the role and I would like to thank Geoff Huckstep and the rest of the selection panel for their hard work to ensure we got the right man for the job.”
