Dave Attwood and Ed Slater will both miss England‘s Six Nations campaign due to injuries.
Bath lock Attwood underwent surgery yesterday on a trapped nerve in his neck and is set to be out for up to 12 weeks.
New England head coach Eddie Jones will have to do without another lock as Leicester captain Slater suffered ligament damage to his right knee in the defeat to Saracens last weekend and is expected to be out for up to two months.
Tigers Director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “It’s probably six to eight weeks. He has a medial injury on the inside of his right knee. It is not a horrifically bad injury; it’s a pretty straightforward one. It’s not ideal but that’s the game.”
Bath head coach Mike Ford commented: “Dave will be out for a while. He’s trapped a nerve and got a bulging disc in his back.
“His Six Nations chances are gone. It will be anywhere between ten and 12 weeks until he plays again.”
