Joe Simpson’s potential participation in the World Cup with England is not under threat after Wasps revealed he should only be out for six to eight weeks.
The scrum-half was forced to leave the pitch on Saturday against Leicester Tigers and scans confirmed a grade two medial collateral ligament strain to his knee.
No operation is required and medical staff are confident he will make a full recovery in time to participate in pre-season and in any World Cup preparations should he be selected.
