Wasps suffered their first Premiership defeat at the Ricoh Arena as they went down to Saracens 26-17 yesterday.
The hosts had a 17-3 lead 15 minutes into the game after two sensational tries in two minutes from Christian Wade and Elliot Daly.
But Saracens started an areal bombardment on Wasps‘ back three putting them under huge pressure and, after Jackson Wray and Mako Vunipola went over for tries, it was Saracens who led 20-17 by half-time.
The second half was more of Sarries’ pragmatism which Wasps couldn’t counterattack and Alex Goode slotted two penalties to seal the win and deprived the hosts from the losing bonus-point.
Over in Newcastle, Tommy Bell came off the bench to score a try and hand Leicester a 16-12 over the Falcons.
First-half tries from Scott Lawson and Juan Pablo Socino gave the hosts a 12-6 lead but Freddie Burns closed the gap with his third penalty of the game on the hour before Bell’s try and Burns’ conversion snatched it.
