As revealed exclusively by Jon Newcombe in The Rugby Paper last Sunday, London Scottish have brought in former England internationals Phil Greening and Tim Payne to their coaching set-up ahead of Saturday’s match at Bedford Blues.
Their appointment follows the departure of James Buckland’s abrupt departure from the Athletic Ground last week.
Both Greening and Payne will take charge of the forwards with Greening concentrating on lineout and defensive strategy and former prop Payne taking the lead in the scrum.
Capped 24 times by England, former British & Irish Lion and Grand Slam winner Phil Greening has a wealth of rugby experience having worked under coaches including Sir Clive Woodward, John Mitchell, Warren Gatland and Shaun Edwards.
Tim Payne is another former British & Irish Lion who won 22-caps for England having spent the majority of his playing career at Wasps winning three Premiership titles, two Heineken Cup crowns and the Powergen Cup.
Since retiring in 2013 Payne has been coaching at Premiership Academy level whilst developing his coaching career at grassroots level and at Wimbledon RFC.
Greening and Payne will work alongside current London Scottish backs and attack coach Peter Richards and Director of Rugby Mike Friday.
