Tom Homer has been ruled out for a minimum of eight weeks after it was confirmed last night he suffered a grade two MCL knee sprain in Saturday’s London Double Header fixture against Harlequins.
After missing out most of last season with a groin injury, the London Irish full-back was only on the field for seven minutes at Twickenham before he was forced off and now faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
London Irish Director of Rugby, Brian Smith said: “It is a set-back for Tom and the Club. He has had a great pre-season and was chomping at the bit to be back playing.
“We have an excellent medical and rehab set up at the Club and will ensure Tom gets the best possible support to ensure he fully recovers from the injury. The back three is a very competitive position at the Club and with Tom absent, others will have a chance to stake a claim for the jersey.”
