John Spencer to manage 2017 Lions tour

Former captain John Spencer has been appointed tour manager for the tour of in 2017.
The 66-year-old, who won 14 England caps between 1969 and 1971, will return to the Land of the Long White Cloud after touring there with the 1971 .
He succeeds Andy Irvine, who oversaw the 2013 triumph in , and will be the third English Lions tour manager in the professional era following Fran Cotton ( 1997) and Bill Beaumont (New Zealand 2005).
Meanwhile former captain Tom Grace, takes over from Gerald Davies as chairman.
Spencer said: “It is a privilege and honour to represent the Lions as tour manager, 46 years after I did so as a player.
“My predecessor Andy Irvine did a fantastic job in Australia and I am looking forward to following in his footsteps.”
