Adam Jones has been dropped by Warren Gatland ahead of Wales‘ second Test against South Africa in Nelspruit on Saturday.
The British & Irish Lion veteran tighthead is replaced by Scarlets‘ Samson Lee in the front row with Gethin Jenkins and Ken Owens retaining their place.
The only other change to the starting XV that lost 38-16 to the Springboks in Durban last week comes in the back row with Josh Turnbull getting the nod over Aaron Shingler at openside.
There are three changes on the bench with Aaron Jarvis, Jake Ball and Dan Baker all coming into the match-day squad.
Gatland said: “Adam hasn’t had a lot of rugby recently. The way the game was and potentially the way the weather conditions are going to be for this week, we just felt at this stage we wanted to have a look at someone else and to make a change.
“He was disappointed with us taking him off and the way he played. We appreciate that as well because of what he’s achieved as a player, but it doesn’t matter who you are, the expectations are you’ve got to go out there and perform.
“We have been really happy with the response from the players during training this week, we have had a good week and we see Saturday as an opportunity to right the wrongs of last weekend.
“We were disappointed with last week’s display but we want to finish the season with a big performance and show what we know we are capable of. It’s a great opportunity for Samson and Josh and they deserve the chance after impressing from the bench last weekend.
