Harlequins announce today announced that four of their brightest young English talents have committed their future to the club until at least 2016.
Sam Stuart, Sam Twomey and 2013 IRB Junior World Cup champions Harry Sloan and Jack Clifford will graduate from the academy to become senior squad members next season.
All four have played senior rugby for the club this season, with Cheltenham born Stuart making his starting debut earlier this month against Cardiff Blues in the LV= Cup.
Twomey, Sloan and 2013 IRB young player of the year nominee Clifford were also all part of the Aviva ‘A’ League and LV= Cup winning campaigns during the 2012/13 season.
Tunbridge Wells-born Sloan and, the then U20s captain, Clifford went on to win England‘s maiden Junior World Cup title in France in the summer of 2013. Sloan is again part of the England U20s side this season.
Academy Manager Tony Diprose said: “I am delighted that Harry, Jack and the two Sams have committed their future to Harlequins. They have all played a vital role for the club already in their careers and I have no doubt that they will all continue to play their part in keeping Harlequins at the top of the domestic and European game.”
Jack Clifford added: “I am really pleased to have re-signed for Harlequins, a club which I have been at since I was 14. Harlequins is a great club with a great bunch of guys and I feel lucky to be learning alongside them on a daily basis.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges the rest of this season, and next, will present as I continue to develop and push for more first team appearances.”
