London Wasps have suffered a huge blow as Andrea Masi will be sidelined for up to five months with a knee injury.
The Italian centre damaged both his posterior and medial cruciate ligaments against Sale two weeks ago and underwent surgery this week.
As a result, Masi will miss Italy‘s Autum internationals next months while he is also likely to miss the start of the Six Nations next year.
A Wasps statement said: “London Wasps back Andrea Masi this week underwent surgery on the knee injury he suffered in the game against Sale Sharks.
“Masi suffered damage to both his MCL and PCL and will be on the sidelines for a period that is estimated to be between 16 and 20 weeks.”
